Angelina Jolie is candidly sharing her experiences as a solo parent.
After parting ways with Brad Pitt in 2016, the actress from the film Mr. & Mrs. Smith has been more selective with her projects. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, she mentioned that she loves directing but due to a change in her family situation, she hasn’t been able to focus on directing for a few years. She added, “I had to take on shorter gigs and spend more time at home, so I shifted back to acting in a few roles. That’s the reality of the situation.”
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt co-parent five of their six children – Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox, as their oldest son Maddox is now 18. A source shared with E! News that their main focus has been on the well-being and happiness of their children, especially during the pandemic. Despite the circumstances, all the kids have been staying with Angelina but still visit Brad for their regular visits. The source mentioned that the children are keeping up with their schoolwork, practicing their languages, playing instruments, board games, and even helping out with cooking dinner. Overall, the adjustment to the new routine hasn’t been too difficult for them as they are used to doing schoolwork at home.
However, shooting for the HBO Max film occurred before the outbreak of the pandemic, and Angie had her children with her throughout the entire production process. According to E! News from 2019, she and her kids spent their time in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where they enjoyed themselves while she was busy working. During their stay, they engaged in activities similar to those they did back in LA. They made frequent visits to Target, enjoyed shopping, and dined out. An unnamed source mentioned, “Angelina spoiled them with lots of toys and sports equipment. She enjoys treating them with new things whenever possible. Since she had to work extensively, she wanted them to have a good time and keep themselves occupied.”
According to the report, the children will also be traveling to Los Angeles to visit Brad. She recently shared with British Vogue that her family life is far from traditional, admitting, “I don’t think I have the skills to be a typical stay-at-home mom.” Despite the unconventional nature of her life and her children’s upbringing, Angelina expressed that she is at her happiest. She mentioned, “I believe I will truly come into my own in my 50s.”
